WATTS GETS ITS FIRST NEW BANK SINCE 1997
The week of February 26, 2021 OneWest Bank opened up a full branch office at the new Freedom Plaza in Watts! This is the first new bank in Watts since Chase opened in 1997. The opening of the branch follows the company’s recent $47 million investment in a 92-unit multifamily apartment complex which will support low-to-moderate income families as a part of the Jordan Downs redevelopment project. Construction has continued throughout the pandemic on the redevelopment of Jordan Downs which is doubling the number of housing units from 700 to 1,400 and will not displace a single resident.
